In cell biology, imaging has always been a major means of obtaining information on subcellular organization and exchanges, and of gaining a dynamic view of cellular processes. To this end, a large range of fluorescence-based experimental strategies have been developed. The aim of this presentation is to provide a non-expert audience with an overview of the main tools and techniques available, and to present the biological questions they can address about the inner life of cells, such as ultrastructure organization and biochemical properties of subcellular compartments.
